Job Profile Summary This role focuses on providing administrative and business support to the organization in order to achieve operational goals. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following General Administration duties: Produces documents, collects, records, sorts and files information, handles mail, prepares routine reports, makes travel arrangements, arranges appointments, responds to inquiries, data entry, and operates office equipment. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a "hands on" environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. A senior level role that requires broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Works under limited supervision for routine situations, provides assistance and training to lower level employees, and problems typically are not routine and require analysis to understand. Job Overview This position produces a wide range of simple to complex quality printed materials by creating layout, shipping, platemaking, printing and finishing the product. Job Description Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Three (3) years of progressively responsible press experience in the printing industry. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Some vocational graphic arts background and some mechanical aptitude. 2. Experience with producing simple to complex printed material from all pre-press operations through finishing. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 1. Produces a wide range of printed materials (i.e. forms, multiple part sets, booklets, books, two-colored stationary, course announcements, etc.) on small and medium size sheet-fed offset presses up to 15" X 18" sheet size. 2. Completes necessary finishing processes utilizing various bindery and finishing machinery such as power cutter, power paper, drill, power wire stitcher, folder, collators, etc. 3. Frequently prepares material for printing by performing layout, film stripping, platemaking and other pre-press functions. 4. Assists and trains other press operators and bindery workers in setting up machinery, job running, etc. 5. Occasionally assumes supervisory responsibilities at the Manager's discretion. 6. Assists in customer service by answering the phone and being available at service window to distribute completed jobs. 7. May perform all or some of the duties of the Equipment Operator. Physical Requirements: 1. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. 2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending / descending stairs and operating office equipment. 3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate and exchange information. 4. Ability to see and read computer displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Skills & Abilities: 1. Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines. 2. Ability to assess potentially dangerous situations quickly and make sound decisions based on the information present and takes appropriate action. 3. Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances. 4. Courteous telephone manner. 5. Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization. 6. Ability to write routine correspondence, including email, logs, and reports. 7. Good interpersonal skills. 8. Ability to read and write at a proficient level. 9. Basic Computer Skills.
