Job Description:

Principal Embedded Solutions Engineer (ESE)/Field Applications Engineer (FAE) - Atlanta, GA

As an Embedded Solutions Engineer you will engage with clients to create technical solutions while identifying and building new business using your engineering expertise. You will be expected to reframe their thinking and build consensus for Microchip's solutions, co-creating value by delivering the freedom to innovate.

Overview

Primarily this customer engagement role is to drive design wins to revenue at assigned accounts by providing in-depth engineering support including creation of demos and proofs of concept as well as bring up and debugging of client systems. Some specific embedded expertise may be required. Visiting, training, and advising customers is also part of the job.

Job Responsibilities

Be an authority in embedded software tools, solutions, techniques, and Microchip 8/16/32 bit MCU products.

Engage with Sales and Marketing teams to provide pre- and post-sales technical support for all product lines with a focus on Embedded Security and related products, including relevant new technologies.

Learn and utilize Microchip's Client Engagement Process to drive design wins to revenue at select target clients.

Support the company technical and business relationship with the assigned clients.

Identify the key client stakeholders and coach those stakeholders to build consensus for Microchip's solutions within their organization.

Continuously and proactively develop technical skills in connected embedded systems including tools, libraries, frameworks, and other technologies.

Use insight and influencing skills to offer clients unique perspectives on technology that link to Microchip solutions.

Contribute and participate within a global team environment to successfully develop and implement strategies for assigned clients across all global locations.

Communicate effectively with Microchip product divisions providing quantifiable feedback and return on investment (ROI) for their client engagements.

Engage in client architectural discussions and reviews, driving best in class support with Microchip's embedded semiconductor and software solutions.

Conduct architectural and board-level schematic reviews, design-in and product training for customers.

Provide essential communications across functional teams to improve product features and processes, support and attention to client needs.

Utilize engineering design skills, techniques, and knowledge to decrease client development time and improve manufacturability.

Must have the ability to create content and deliver technical overviews, seminars, and workshops for clients, fellow ESEs and/or Sales.

Ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g. BSEE, BSCE) with a strong academic track record.
Eight to twelve years of relevant work experience.
Position requires travel visiting clients in the Atlanta area, with some visits to clients in surrounding states, occasional longer trips, and availability to travel when the client needs support.

Engineering Skill Set
Experience with 8, 16 and 32-bit microcontrollers and processors
Proficiency in C. IDE Experience; MPLABX a plus
Strong hardware and software debugging skills with the ability to dig into system level issues to assist clients in identifying root cause
Ability to deconstruct a product into a system level block diagram
Experience with microcontroller peripherals like ADC, Timers, SPI, I2C and GPIO
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Board level experience including power supply decoupling, high speed signal terminations and routing.
Ability to articulate and facilitate customers technical needs to drive action across functional groups.
One or more of the following is a big plus:
Understanding of Embedded Security, Authentication and Encryption
Experience in assembly, C++, and libraries
Experience with RTOS and/or Frameworks
Experience with Ethernet and USB communications
Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure, IoT platforms
Understanding of Motor Control
Familiarity with DSP algorithms and techniques
Familiarity with SCRUM, GIT and JIRA
