At Baxter, we rely on insightful information to power our quality management system and product performance. We're seeking an expert data scientist to deliver insights by bridging business requirements with data. The ideal candidate will be an expert in statistics, demonstrate natural curiosity, be creative and tech-savvy to address data analytics challenges. An individual will collect large volumes of data from varying sources, clean and interpret data and create solutions to address challenges and communicate those to the stakeholders. While mining, interpreting, and cleaning data, this person will be encouraged to ask questions, connect the dots across processes, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data's full potential and create new visions for the future.

What you will be doing:
  • Serve as data strategist to identify and integrate new and existing datasets that can be leveraged throughout product and process lifecycles.
  • Work closely with the data engineers and IT teams in the development of data products to align with organization goals.
  • Execute analytical experiments to help tackle problems across various processes and organizations.
  • Build predictive and statistical models and machine-learning algorithms to mine big-data stores; perform data and error analysis to improve models; clean and validate data for quality, uniformity and accuracy.
  • Ensuring the efficiency of data models through meticulous testing and analysis
  • Interpret and analyze data for trends and patterns and interpret data with clear objectives in mind to provide actionable information.
  • Presenting the results and suggestions to relevant parties by using easily understandable visuals and concise reports.
  • Improving data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems

What do you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, statistics, applied mathematics, IT/STEM or related discipline
  • 8 years experience as a Data Scientist or similar IT role
  • Ability to prior guidance to other data scientists on the team
  • 5+ years of industry experience in Pharma and/or Medical Device Industry or other regulatory environment preferred
  • Advanced coursework in machine learning and programming recommended.
  • Hands-on experience with data science tools
  • Proficient in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
  • Advanced experience in pattern recognition and predictive modeling
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and programming languages (ex: Java/Python, SAS)
  • Proficient in handling (data wrangling) imperfect data
  • Experience in Data Visualization Application (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $120,000 - $165,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or long-term incentive.
