Role Summary

As a Sr. Financial Analyst for Product Development, you'll lead the management of financials for a major area of Rivian product development spend. This area is critical for the success of both consumer (R1, R2) and commercial (EDV, RCV) products. A successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to drive cost to affordable targets, build strong relationships with technical leaders, and be self-motivated to set solid financial foundations for Rivian product development spend.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners including program, engineering, prototyping, and special projects to drive towards cost and profitability targets.
  • Manage Bill of Material costs. Coordinate with the engineering, procurement, and cost engineering teams to identify opportunities and flag financial risks related to bill of materials
  • Support month-end close process, complete timely reporting in line with Corporate Accounting policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain budgets for development costs and tooling and approve spend based on targets that have been agreed upon with key stakeholders, driving team towards cost effectiveness.
  • Execute on ad hoc analysis to support leadership decision making process; transform data into actionable insights and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of work experience planning and forecasting experience, within the auto/energy industry a plus
  • Proven analytical ability and creative problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to develop effective business partner relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to interact with various management levels
  • General knowledge of accounting/financial/operational principles and theories
  • Proven experience budgeting, planning, forecasting, closing and reconciling operating expenditures
  • Strong organizational skills reflecting prioritization with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill with the ability to process data from multiple sources and build models from the ground up
  • Ability to effectively articulate financial stories in a clear and concise manner
  • Proven ability developing and improving processes to make reporting better, faster and easier
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required, experience with SQL, PowerBI, Adaptive Insights and SAP - plus
  • Experience working in a customer facing role - plus
  • Bachelor's degree (MBA/CPA a plus) in Finance, Accounting or Engineering preferred

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for Palo Alto, CA based applicants: $117,000 - $146,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Salary Range for Irvine, CA based applicants: $107,000 - $134,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
