Overview **0.2-0.9 FTE, (8, 24, or 36 hrs/week available), night shift, 7p-7a, every third weekend and holiday rotation** EMT-P required. Base pay $21.50/hr. Benefits eligible if 0.4 FTE or higher. The Emergency Department Paramedic provides emergency medical services in the hospital Emergency Department or while moving a patient between the Emergency Department and another part of the hospital. The Paramedic provides patient evaluation and stabilization as outlined in accordance with hospital and departmental policy. Why Nationwide Children's Hospital? Responsibilities 1. Performs selected ordered interventions and diagnostic procedures, maintaining a septic/sterile technique as appropriate:
Diagnostic procedures-12 lead EKG, Rhythm strip, Bedside glucose test/ISTAT, Cardiac monitoring, Zoll pad placement, Pulse Oximetry reading and monitoring
2. Responsible for performing basic supportive care to specified patients/families under the direction and supervision of an RN/Care Manager. Collects, documents, and reports data to the RN. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate care and service for pediatric patients from birth to 21 years, and selected adults. a. Utilizes clinical judgement, reports change b. Measures vital signs c. Establishes priorities of cared. Documents patient information including vital signs, collects patient data, procedures performed and response to therapy 3. Functions a Constant Attendant (Must have hospital training) 4. Functions as a team member, performing other related duties as assigned 5. Accompanies and assists in transportation of patients to other diagnostic or treatment areas within the hospital 6. Functions as a resource for unit personnel 7. Coordinates tasks with appropriate personnel 8. Maintains patient safety 9. Assumes responsibility in restocking trauma/critical care/helipad and in completing appropriate patient care charges 10. Shares in improvement in quality of patient care through participation on committees and by contributing suggestions for improvement in the organized delivery of patient care 11. Meets and escorts patients to Emergency Department form helipad 12. Supports the philosophy and objectives of Nationwide Children's Hospital and Emergency Services and assist in interpreting these to patients and visitors. 13. Maintains awareness of current research and participates in research activities as appropriate 14. Attends unit in-service programs and keeps abreast of emergency care trends 15. Assist with orientation of new EMT-P personnel 16. Continues professional growth by identification of personal needs for continuing education, setting goals Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
