Responsibilities

The Peer Recovery Supporter implements and supports the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies and procedures of Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Patient Care Service Division.

    Assess client needs and link clients to effective prevention and essential support services including housing, nutrition assistance, mental health and substance abuse treatment, employment services, and other needs as identified by the client Assist clients in recovery to navigate the community and recovery support services.
  • Assess potential barriers to care and work with patients to reduce obstacles resulting from lack of transportation, mental illness, substance abuse, etc.
  • Assists Supervisor, Project Director and organizational partners in the decision-making process for improving service delivery for people in recovery.
  • Provide onsite support for clients in recovery.
  • Provides appropriate documentation of patient interactions
  • Provides brief education on the recovery process while supporting the client?s treatment and recovery goals.
  • Review and recommend potential resources that are culturally sensitive to the targeted community.
  • Provide input and support to the program.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Effective customer services, communications, and interpersonal skills required for interaction with consumers.
  • Stay informed about current recovery trends, developments, as well as state of the art prevention efforts and strategies and general information regarding recovery.
  • Must be a Certified Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter (OhioMHAS Certification) or willing to acquire that Certification within 6 months of employment.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance that can be upgraded to business class required.
  • Passion for working with individuals in recovery.
  • Knowledgeable about community and recovery support services in Franklin County and surrounding counties.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Typing on computer Constantly (67-100%) Using phone Frequently (34-66%) Sitting Frequently (34-66%) Standing Occasionally (0-33%) Lifting Occasionally (0-33%) Walking Frequently (34-66%)Must be able to independently lift up to 25 lbs.
