Overview The Emergency Medicine (EM) Research Team at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a full-time, in-person research assistant (RA). The RA will work on research projects that focus on emergency medicine and emergency medical services. The person in this position will be responsible for assisting on several research projects in collaboration with internal NCH stakeholders, the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network, a variety industry studies and others under the supervision of EM Research Team Manager. The EM RA's primary responsibilities are screening, recruiting, and enrolling for more than a dozen active research studies. This includes assisting in the performance of clinical studies in accordance with approved protocols; interacting with patients/families regarding all aspects of the clinical research study; maintaining records of clinical research and reports; collecting, processing, storing, and shipping specimens per study protocol(s). Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts clinical studies as outlined in study protocol(s); performs study procedures according to recognized skill level and certifications and within the local and federal regulations and guidelines; adheres to good clinical practices.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Minimum Qualifications: * Must work four 10-hour shifts per week, including nights and weekends * Bachelor's degree required, preferably in health, science, or behavioral/social science field * Applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to manage details, work independently, and meet deadlines * Demonstrates strong ability to work on multiple projects concurrently * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs * Full time in-person position Preferred Qualifications: * Interest and experience in working with children, and families * Interest in improving the outcomes of ill and injured children in the continuum of emergency care * Experience with observational data collection methods * Familiarity with hospital medicine and/or emergency medical services preferred * Familiarity with electronic medical records ideal, not required MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Percent of time spent on: 15% Typing on computer 60% Patient Interaction 01% Answering phones 20% Miscellaneous paperwork associated research regulatory issues 01% Xeroxing 03% Filing Minimum physical requirements: 100% Kneeling / reaching 100% Finger dexterity 100% Talking / hearing / seeing The above list of duties is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
