Overview

We are seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator to join Principal Investigator Dr Sarah O'Brien's research laboratory. Delayed diagnosis of bleeding disorders in women is an important public health issue. Dr O'Brien's research focuses on the intersections between women's health and hematology and seeks to improve recognition of bleeding disorders in women.

Schedule: M-F Day Shift (flexibility of hours)

Responsibilities

Principal duties and responsibilities:

    Recruiting and enrolling adolescents and young adults in outpatient clinics at Nationwide Children's Hospital
  • Performing research activities, including administering surveys and finger prick blood tests
  • Processing blood samples with a centrifuge
  • Interfacing with clinical care staff and other hospital services staff
  • Carrying out regulatory and data management activities including deviation reporting
  • Training and supporting Research Aides
  • Assisting in the creation of operation manuals
  • Performing miscellaneous related duties


Qualifications

Qualifications Note:

  • Prior experience in administering finger-prick blood tests and processing blood samples is not a requirement, CRCs will receive training and be well-supported in these tasks.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with adolescents and young people about menstruation in a manner which enables them to feel comfortable and respected
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team
  • Previous research experience and familiarity with relevant software (e.g., Excel, Redcap) is preferred

Education:

  • Current graduate student in health-related field preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree with 2+ years research project management experience

Minimum physical requirement:

  • 75% Study operations and data collection
  • 5% Regulatory activities, data management, analysis, and participation in dissemination of results with PI
  • 5%Miscellaneous paperwork associated with research
  • 50% Typing on a computer
  • 15% Processing and packaging blood samples
  • 100% Kneeling / reaching
  • 100% Finger dexterity
  • 100% Talking / hearing / seeing
