Senior Quality Engineer
Responsibilities STRATTEC Security Corporation is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for its Milwaukee, WI, HQ. Responsible for providing engineering support to help champion, coordinate and continuously improve all manufacturing and production quality systems at STRATTEC with a particular focus on leading root cause and corrective action standardization, scrap reductions, and implantation of quality systems to drive KPI improvement of scrap, labor, performance, and variation reduction in the Company's die cast manufacturing operations. This will include assisting with designing, developing, implementing and monitoring improved automotive part and component manufacturing processes, systems, tests, and methods that will ensure and continuously improve the Company's ability to design and manufacture parts and components for the Company's Tier 1 OEM customers that meet both internal and external quality standards and requirements as well as to maintain and continuously improve manufacturing operations at the Company's manufacturing facilities. Daily duties include: support daily manufacturing operations by designing, developing, and driving the implementation of improved standards, structures, workflows, production equipment layouts and methods, practices, procedures, systems, and controls to facilitate the KPI improvement of root cause and corrective action standardization, implantation of quality systems, productivity and inventory controls, streamlining of manufacturing operations, new product introduction, reduction of waste, variation reduction, delivery of quality products, and enhancement of return on capital investment in production equipment and facilities. Lead the development of standardized systems and structure to ensure world class performance which includes detailed quality instructions, APQP documents, error proofing, and automated quality control systems. Perform all Quality team duties related to APQP documentation to facilitate successful and on-time component PPAP. Ensure consistency in the way parts are checked, documented, and sustained in the facility. Provide expert product design recommendations and feedback for new and existing components suitable for manufacturing consistently at world class performance levels. Provide training material/guidance Quality Technicians and Auditors on root cause, corrective action, and data collection. Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly COQ metrics for opportunities. Lead communication in quality problem resolution with internal and external customer base to ensure customer expectations are fully met. Document and distribute lessons learned to the organization. Leverage lean concepts and industry benchmarks such as visual factory, standard work, error proofing, single piece flow, six sigma, Red X, kaizen, TPM and Industry 4.0 to simplify the organization and eliminate decisions in the design, manufacture, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting processes. Participate with the manufacturing team for all quality issues, both internal and external. Identify and determine causes of manufacturing and product quality nonconformities to assess most significant leverage points within relevant process; then assist with the planning, development and implementation of operational workflows, policies, programs, methods, and testing criteria designed to eliminate quality control and assurance problems, improve product quality overall, and enhance production efficiency and consistency. Complete all customer required APQP documentation and work directly with the customer quality contacts to ensure all customer quality needs are met. Document and distribute lessons learned to the organization. Little (5%) domestic and international travel required to other STRATTEC locations. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, plus three years of supervision or management experience in the Tier 1 automotive part and component supplier industry where experience included providing guidance to product or quality engineering during the development of mechanical products as well as leadership towards the achievement of product engineering goals and deliverables.
