SUMMARY

Lead embedded software development activities including overall design of software architecture, development of software design documentation, software coding, coordination of development activities with personnel at different global sites, integration and test of software packages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    Lead the global software development project team including technical leadership and program timing.
  • Design of the software architecture considering the product requirements, software re-use strategy, software maintainability, software development process and industry standards such as AUTOSAR, OSEK, MISRA, UDS, Functional Safety, Cyber Security and others.
  • Software coding using the C programming language adhering to industry and internal coding standards and practices.
  • Develop, document, review and approve software design specifications.
  • Analyze and de-bug software in embedded systems using proper instrumentation equipment.
  • Adhere to a rigorous software design and development process.
  • Actively lead/participate in software design peer reviews.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Although the position does not entail direct supervisory responsibilities, technical and project leadership skills are essential to lead the software project team.



Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field required with a strong preference for electrical/electronic or computer science.
  • Three or more years of experience in electronics/software design, testing or in a related field with a preference in automotive embedded systems.
  • Proficiency with electronics and software testing tools.
  • Understanding of Automotive SPICE standards and their practical applications preferred.
  • Proficiency with an Application Lifecycle Management tool such as PTC Integrity is preferred.
  • Bluetooth or other wireless communication knowledge preferred.
  • CAN stack Integration knowledge preferred.
  • AUTOSAR knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Ford FNOS, GM Global B experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools is essential.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Good oral and written English language skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret highly technical design documents. Ability to write technical documents, development processes and procedures, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively represent information and respond to questions in a meeting environment. Additional German, Korean and Mandarin language skills would be valued.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Self-starter. The candidate must possess strong analytical capability. Possesses excellent problem solving skills as evidenced by adherence to disciplined problem solving methods resulting in solid solutions to kill the issue.

DEVELOPMENT TOOLS AND INSTRUMENTATION

Strong personal computer proficiency. Familiarity with Automotive SPICE. Familiarity with software development tools including PTC Integrity. Experience with embedded systems analysis tools. Experience with software de-bugging tools.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS DESIGN

Knowledge and experience in real-time operating systems, control system design, serial data communication (LIN, CAN and Key Word 2000), C programming language, hardware/software integration, systems engineering and electrical/computer engineering concepts. Knowledge of and experience designing software using industry coding standards and best practices. Able to integrate, compile, test and verify the entire software package on the target hardware.
