Project Engineer - Fort Worth, TX

Halff Associates has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer on our AI/Infrastructure Management Team. Office location may be flexible with consideration of candidates based in either Fort Worth, TX or Austin, TX offices. The desired candidate will be a trustworthy, team oriented, self-motivated, creative problem solver and a proactive team member.

The person in this position will collaborate with a technical team to evaluate and analyze infrastructure management projects related to municipal public works systems, prepare recommendations for corrective action, collaborate with the Project Manager and Team Leader to provide municipal program support and prepare results and deliverables for clients, and be responsible for preparing analyses results and deliverables for key clients.

Responsibilities will include municipal public works systems support for prioritization, rehabilitation, and renewal projects; technical analyses, results visualization, and technical writing; project task management and completion of tasks assigned by Project Manager; and collaboration with the Infrastructure team to further service area development. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has the willingness and ability to strengthen and develop relationships with team members.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with EIT certification in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 0-2 years of progressive engineering experience
  • Work ethic that's strong and efficient
  • Demonstrated self-QA/QC implementation
  • Data experience working with municipal, state, and federal clients including GIS and utility data
  • Interest in municipal public works projects and/or analyses and infrastructure management
  • Motivation to gain experience in pipeline rehabilitation and/or condition assessment, as well as develop expertise in trenchless rehabilitation evaluation and methods
  • Experience with ESRI GIS software
  • Willingness to learn standard project management approaches
  • Motivation to learn business skills and best practices of infrastructure management


Desired Skills:


  • Critical thinking to solve municipal public works issues as well as data analysis issues
  • Technical writing skills and ability to effectively communicate project findings; candidates will be asked to provide a sample of previous written reports or similar
  • Data-driven projects understanding and experience; Python coding experience is a plus
  • Accountability for successful completion of tasks
  • Desire to learn and improve standard workflows
  • Communication and collaboration skills with team members
  • Experience with infrastructure/asset management challenges
  • Ability to self-monitor/adjust effort to meet task goals within budget
