Halff has an opening for a Roadway Engineer, with a Texas EIT Certification or PE License, or the ability to acquire either within 6 months of employment, to join our Transportation Engineering team based in our Houston, TX office. The ideal candidate would have experience in roadway / transportation design and PS&E / schematic design. This position will be primarily responsible for performing transportation design on roadway & highway design projects for TxDOT and other agencies. This role will allow you the opportunity to be trained and mentored by an experienced Roadway / Transportation Professional Engineer and to gain ever increasing professional responsibility. Roadway / Transportation Engineer (EIT / PE) - TxDOT PS&E / Schematic Design Responsibilities:
- Works under a Team Leader in the development of roadway design and PS&E / schematic design
- Manages roadway / transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs
- Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT's, and technical staff
- Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
- Reports on project progress
- Collaborates with clients and other consultants
- Assists with business development activities
Roadway / Transportation Engineer (EIT / PE) - TxDOT PS&E / Schematic Design Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
- Professional Engineer License (PE) in the State of Texas, or Engineer-in-Training Certificate in Texas preferred
- A minimum of 1 to 6 years of progressive design experience on roadway / transportation TxDOT PS&E / schematic design projects
- MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD) experience
- Experience managing design and plan production
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong decision making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients
- A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success
