Halff has an opening for a Roadway Engineer, with their Texas PE License, to join our Roadway / Transportation team in either the Midland, TX or Lubbock, TX location. The ideal candidate would have at least 3 years of experience in TxDOT Roadway / Transportation Design, PS&E and Schematic Design. This position will be primarily responsible for performing Roadway / Transportation Design on Roadway & Highway Design projects for TxDOT and other agencies. Experience working with DOT (Department of Transportation), particularly TxDOT, and other public sector clients is required. Roadway Engineer (PE) - TxDOT Transportation PS&E / Schematic Design Responsibilities:
- Works under a Roadway / Transportation Team Leader (PE) in the development of TxDOT Roadway Design, Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) and Schematic Design
- Manages Roadway / Transportation projects or tasks in support of business needs
- Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT's, and technical staff
- Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
- Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
- Reports on project progress
- Collaborates with clients and other consultants
- Assists with business development activities
Roadway Engineer (PE) - TxDOT Transportation PS&E / Schematic Design Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
- Texas PE License required (or able and willing to obtain within 6 months from start date)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in TxDOT Roadway / Transportation Engineering PS&E and Schematic Design
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Understand basic roadway design (roadway design manual, AASHTO)
- A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success
- Experience with Open Roads is a plus
- Department of Transportation (DOT) experience (as an DOT employee or consultant) experience preferred; Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) experience preferred
