Job Posting: Medical Assistant

Location: Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit, Fallon, NV

Position Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule:

    Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (8.5-hour shift with a 30-minute meal break)
  • Maximum Hours: 80 hours per two-week period

Qualifications:

  • Degree: Certificate
  • Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (must present proof of current certification).
    • Certifications must be maintained at no cost to the government.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience within the last 2 years as a Medical Assistant.
  • Board Certification: None
  • Licensure/Registration: None

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
  • Perform general patient care procedures per appropriate SOPs.
  • Recognize and institute emergency measures as needed.
  • Check and document patient's vital signs, including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
  • Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies, and vital signs.
  • Assist the provider during examinations as needed.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
  • Maintain equipment, stock, and cleanliness of examination rooms.
  • Complete lab and x-ray requisitions according to clinic policies.
