Your Opportunity

This full-time role is about making an impact on people's lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As a Welding Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Component Replacement and Repair Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. In the dynamic environment of commercial nuclear power plants, our team is dedicated to providing essential welding engineering support for maintenance and repair activities. We operate collaboratively in teams to develop innovative and customized solutions, often pioneering first-of-a-kind (FOAK) repair and plant modification strategies. Our day-to-day activities encompass the following key areas:



  • Code Application and Interpretations: Applying ASME and AWS Codes with precision and interpreting their requirements to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Utilization of Customized Machine Welding Systems: Operating advanced customized machine welding systems to execute complex field repairs and facilitate component replacement installations.
  • Component Fabrication: Engaging in component fabrication, ensuring the highest standards of quality and adherence to specifications.
  • ASME Code Procedure and Personnel Performance Qualifications: Implementing ASME Code procedures and ensuring personnel performance qualifications meet the required standards.
  • Remote Welding Process Development and Qualification: Developing and qualifying remote welding processes to enhance efficiency and safety in repair activities.
  • Designing Welding Repairs for Various Materials: Crafting welding repair designs for a diverse range of materials, including dissimilar metal welds, narrow groove welding, and higher alloy-based materials used in nuclear plants.
  • Code Material Procurement: Managing the procurement of materials in accordance with the applicable codes to guarantee the integrity of the welding processes.
  • Application of Welding Processes: Applying Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes to develop effective field repair and construction solutions.
  • Adapting Components for Welding Systems: Adapting both off-the-shelf and customized components for welding systems, encompassing off-the-shelf, modified off-the-shelf, and innovative first-of-a-kind designs.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborating with component suppliers and analytical engineers to ensure seamless coordination, facilitating the delivery of turnkey solutions.
  • Welding Support for Next Generation Reactor Designs: Providing crucial welding support for the advancement of next-generation reactor designs, contributing to the evolution of nuclear technologies.
  • Resolution of Welding Queries: Offering expertise and support in resolving welding-related questions from other Framatome organizations, fostering a collaborative environment.

Your Total Rewards Package

The range of base salary for the position is between $73,000 - $96,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
