Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Assists the Maintenance and Fitness Director in the cleanliness, maintenance and operation of YMCA branch facility, grounds, and fitness equipment. Responsibilities include building, grounds and equipment maintenance, fitness equipment cleaning, preventive maintenance, and repair, room set ups and janitorial assistance as needed. This position is a key contributor to branch operations through safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Performs duties associated with the maintenance, upkeep and appearance of the facility, grounds, branch mechanical and fitness equipment.
  2. Assists in maintaining the proper function of all building and pool equipment, heating and cooling systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, exercise equipment and other related building systems. May be required to obtain CPO (Certified Pool Operator) Certification within one year from date of hire.
  3. Assists with grounds maintenance to ensure timely and proper completion, including but not limited to snow removal, grass cutting, landscaping and general exterior maintenance.
  4. Cleans exterior and interior as well as performs preventative maintenance on all pieces of fitness equipment as instructed by manufacturer.
  5. Maintains the proper function of all branch fitness equipment; including but not limited to all Cardio, Strength, Stretching and Group Exercise Equipment.
  6. Assesses needs, trouble-shoots situations, and assists with problem solving, reporting all problems and concerns to the Property or Fitness Director on a timely basis for evaluation. Responds to trouble calls (on call status to handle emergency repairs).
  7. Assists with repair and replacement of building structures (carpentry, painting, windows, door locks, mechanical systems, etc.)
  8. Responds to requests for cleanup of spills and accidents (including bodily fluids), using proper procedures and techniques to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
  9. Performs repairs as needed when applicable based on the manufacturer's recommendations.
  10. Utilizes internal preventative maintenance software to its fullest capacity. Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
  11. Attend additional fitness equipment service and maintenance trainings as requested.
  12. Maintains a working knowledge of Building Emergency Procedures. May be required to obtain CPR Certification within 60 90 days of hire.
  13. Follows YMCA polices and code of conduct.
  14. Promotes YMCA membership, programs, events, and activities.
  15. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  1. Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent required, some technical school education required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum of one-three years related experience maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical or electrical equipment or systems.
  3. Mechanical or electrical aptitude and experience working with hand tools is required.
  4. Ability to work independently and manage time and projects efficiently.
  5. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  6. Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  7. Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  8. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  9. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
  10. Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and other maintenance-related areas.
  11. Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  12. Must be able to travel to various locations during the course of a business day.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for an extended period, climb ladders, walk, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity.

The work is performed both indoors and out, and may require travel to various locations. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
