Job Summary

THESE ARE PART-TIME POSITIONS

Serve as building personnel in the operation, engagement, and supervision of Twilight Center programming.

We are looking for energetic individuals who are interested in working with youth ages 12-18. We offer a variety of positions that involve direct supervision of operations, administrative, customer service support, security, and participant engagement.

Public Hours of Twilight Operations:

Academic Year - Mon./Wed. 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM, SAT 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM

Position Summary

All Positions: Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules. Working knowledge of community center policies, procedures, programs, and services. Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part-Time Employee Manual and Community Center Staff Manual; working knowledge of programs and services. Clerks are primarily responsible for assisting the Building Director with the management of center's administrative duties.. Effectively communicate with participants/patrons, Recreation Supervisors, Part-Time Recreation Staff, Building Engineers, and Principals, or designee (where applicable). Other duties as assigned.Brief summary of specific Twilight positions:
  • Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules.
  • Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part-Time Employee Manual.
  • Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Community Center Staff Manual.
  • Working knowledge of community center policies, procedures, programs, and services.
  • Assist with staff time and attendance in Time Clock Plus software.
  • Complete and turn in accurate, bi-weekly payroll information (manually), as needed.
  • Manage program attendance tracking in RecTrac registration software.
  • Manage report generation using RecTrac registration software, as needed.
  • Assist building staff with monitoring of facility, as needed.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of assigned area.
  • Assist with setup and break down of program areas, as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with participants/patrons, Recreation Supervisors, Part-Time Recreation Staff, Building Engineers, and Principals, or designees (where applicable).
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Able to meet the scheduling needs required for this position.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have current MPS School Safety or Event Staff training/certification (Event Staff/Safety)
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs continuously.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous work experience in a public setting with a diverse population.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in an office setting.
  • CPR/First Aid training/certification.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Ability to relate to and empathize with teen issues and deescalate conflicts.
  • Excellent decision making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
Working Environment

This environment includes walking, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and possible loud noises when exposed to activities in the gym or similar environment. Staff will be required to supervise groups of children and adults as well as assist in the accommodation of children and/or adults with disabilities (within parameters of provided training).
