Job Summary

Teen Leaders who fulfill a leadership position will share their experiences at the Twilight Centers with other students and serve in a leadership capacity. Teen leaders will be involved in outreach, communication, and Twilight Center representation in a variety of ways. The success of this position is dependent on the energy, positive attitude, and willingness to work with a diverse population.

Position Summary

  • Be an active participant in the Twilight Center.
  • Maintain good grades and exhibit positive leadership in the school environment/community.
  • Represent Twilight in a positive way during the school day and special events.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Twilight Center activities and specialty programming.
  • Communicate daily with participants about upcoming enrichment activities.
  • Communicate with the Twilight Center Supervisor, Teen Coordinator, and other Twilight staff.
  • Serve as a mentor to promote engagement among other Twilight participants.
  • Attend Outreach Events in the school/community (as assigned).
  • Organize student led initiatives, listening sessions, programming, and specialty events.
  • Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part-Time Employee Manual.
  • Enforce and follow all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

  • 15 years of age or older.
  • Willingness to learn, follow direction and take initiative.
  • Must have effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Desire to help others and perform outreach duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate patience and leadership.
  • Enjoy working cooperatively with adults and young people.
  • Ability to meet the scheduling needs required for this position.
  • Organize, plan and attend the Youth Crew Retreat and Twilight Teen Leadership Seminar.
  • Organize and plan Twilight enrichment activities for the 2022/2023 school year.
  • Help build a trusting relationship between participants and the Twilight Center.
  • Cooperate with other staff to clean designated facility areas by following all health and safety regulations.
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs continuously.

  • Ability to relate to and empathize with teen issues that provides a voice for teens in the Twilight Center.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
Working Environment

This environment includes walking, standing for long periods of time, and possible loud noises when exposed to activities in different environments. Teen leaders will be required to participate actively in recruiting and enrichment activities with all participants in multiple outreach events.
