Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at UNCG is to assist students in reaching their academic goals by serving as as primary advocates for students and families as we assist in removing barriers to receiving financial assistance. The Financial Aid Office works to meet these goals by embracing technology, reviewing and improving procedures, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director for Loan Processing role requires the coordination and administration of the Federal Direct Loan Program, private education loan processing, award generation/revisions, verification of the appropriate disbursement of loan funds, and ensuring that loan eligibility is maintained throughout the financial aid process. This position is required to lead/contribute to the development and implementation of awarding guidelines and policies and procedures and serves as the primary subject matter expert and loan knowledge resource for the office. In addition to their supporting the office, the position is responsible for the training and supervision of one permanent SHRA employee (Loan and Accounting Senior Financial Aid Counselor). Oversight of the Loan programs is a highly compliance-related position where there is a high likely of a state/federal audit review. Accuracy, expert knowledge of state/federal regulations, problem solving skill, and an aptitude for attention to detail are critical skills in this role.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in financial aid, higher education, or a related field.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant financial aid experience.
