Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (https://chem.uncg.edu/) features an extremely supportive and collegial environment with 15 full-time faculty and a diverse student body. We offer a BS in Biochemistry, a BA, BS, and MS in Chemistry including biochemistry options, and a PhD in Medicinal Biochemistry. Our department is housed in a 170,000 square foot, $35 million state of the art science building. Excellent core instrumentation and state of the art facilities for NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry with full time support staff are available on site.
Position Summary
The Chemistry Education Research group led by Dr. Maia Popova is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The postdoctoral scholar will be working on an NSF-sponsored project titled "Collaborative Research: Broadening Instructional Innovation in the Chemistry Laboratory through Excellence in Curriculum Development." The postdoctoral scholar will be responsible for a major portion of data collection and analysis, aiming to characterize the impact of professional development on laboratory curriculum developers' thinking and practices. Duties will include but are not limited to designing assessments and protocols, collecting data, analyzing data, and disseminating results through manuscripts and presentations at conferences. The position requires an ability to work independently and to collaborate with others, often handling multiple deadlines concurrently. If interested, the postdoctoral scholar will have opportunities to participate in external proposal writing. The position is available as early as May 2024. Screening of applicants will begin on April 1, 2024, and continue until the position is filled.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have or will earn a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry Education Research, STEM Education Research, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, excellent writing skills and a record of scholarly publications, strong organizational and communication skills, and a willingness and interest to learn new skills and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Previous experience studying faculty is highly advantageous.
