Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of the Division of Student Success is to work in partnership with the University community to deliver high-quality services to facilitate the recruitment, retention, and graduation of a diverse student population and strive to provide service, leadership, and transitional student support for UNCG. This position works within the Division's Academic Achievement Center which provides individualized and small-group academic skills training, course-based tutoring, and academic success peer coaching. The Academic Achievement Center's ( AAC) mission is to create student-centered, diverse, and innovative learning opportunities and personalized academic services that support all students on their path to success at UNC Greensboro and beyond. Through active collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, the AAC recognizes and builds upon students' strengths to cultivate academic self-efficacy, confidence, and achievement.
Position Summary
This position manages the outreach and campus partnership aspects of the Academic Achievement Center's ( AAC) work. This includes program administration, assessment and reporting, supervision and training of student employees, and managing the academic coaching programs. The Assistant Director is responsible for planning and designing communications, workshops, and other engagement activities within the AAC and in collaboration with campus partners. Additionally, this role involves facilitating academic skills sessions and ensuring the delivery of high-quality academic enhancement programs. The Assistant Director also focuses on supporting students' academic and personal goals, linked to retention and persistence, through the development of academic skills, performance improvement, and resource utilization, while promoting a growth mindset and strategies to build self-esteem, self-confidence, and personal responsibility for academic success.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree; or Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years of experience in Higher Education.
  • Proven ability to manage and train a large team of undergraduate and graduate student workers.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in learning assistance in higher education or another educational setting.
  • Certification from a recognized body for coaching.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, and staff.
