The Shared Service Customer Service team provides support for our Boston Children's patients and parents related to collecting payments, answering billing questions, and completing other transactions related to physician bills on behalf of the BCH's Physician Organization.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 10:00a - 2:00p
Location: Westwood, MA

This Physician Billing Associate will be responsible for:

  • Deliver an exceptional experience to every internal and external customer
  • Communicate issues and problems identified through daily work to management
  • Provide front facing support in the office setting by accepting and disseminating deliveries from vendors
  • Sort and disseminate inter office mail and USPS mail
  • Run daily outgoing mail through postage machine
  • Provide liaison support between Shared Service Center (SSC) staff and off site admin as it relates to hardware issues and hardware acquisition as other miscellaneous office duties
  • Provide liaison support between SSC and the building's management's team
  • Provide support to the SSC with which may include working in our electronic medical record billing systems (EPIC). Including but not limited to miscellaneous projects such as researching and resolving denied claims, resolving billing edits, calling insurance companies to resolve denials.
  • Follow established regulations and procedures in the collection, recording, storage and handling of information. Ensure required documentation of issues is complete, accurate, timely and legible. Protect and preserve confidentiality and integrity of all information according to Boston Children's Hospital's HIPAA confidentiality policy.
  • Meet short and long-term goals and objectives as established for the work unit
  • Other duties as assigned

To qualify, you must have:

  • A High School Diploma/GED is required and 1 year of experience in a multi-specialty physician billing or medical office setting
  • Previous EPIC experience highly preferred.
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to meet priorities within set timeframes, and ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to provide effective customer service, which includes the ability to interact professionally and handle sensitive information / issues in a confidential and respectful manner
  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or challenges are relatively routine
  • Ability to adhere to processes, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrates professional integrity
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple demands and projects, as well as perform in a high volume and fast-paced production environment
  • Part time (20 hours) onsite position from 10am - 2pm at Westwood location
