Clariant is currently looking for an Application Scientist to support the Care Chemicals business unit in The Woodlands, TX. The Application Scientist will design and formulate Integrity Management (IM) products and conduct application tests to verify the performance of IM products. They will also develop and enhance laboratory testing methodologies for critical evaluation techniques. The application scientist is a technical expert that will support the deployment, optimization, and customer utilization of our IM solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of integrity management principles, strong technical skills, and a thorough understanding of Surfactants, Polymers, and electrochemistry. This position is a full time, onsite opportunity. Responsibilities

* Work stream leader for Class 1 and Class 2 projects for the development of new Integrity Management products

* Interface with colleagues from global research centers for Surfactants & Polymers

* Manage lab work independently of supervisor, analyze data, and present during project meetings

* Manage technical service requests, engage with requestor, conduct experiments, analyze results, and prepare reports for collected data

* Train junior and regional colleagues on Integrity Management (IM) equipment and modelling

* Ensure highest safety practices and adherence to safe lab working practice requirements

* Adapt and develop new standard operating procedures as required

* Global technical contact for innovation and product related requests for sales and marketing colleagues

* Remain up to date on developments in Integrity Management (IM) and monitor literature and patents from competitors, customers, and suppliers

* Attend global industry conferences as a contributor

* Ability to design and conduct experiments

* Work independently with little to no input from supervisor

* Good stakeholder management to ensure all key parties kept up to date and happy with the performance of technical team

* Exhibits attention to detail and good analytical thinking

* Excellent problem-solving skills and flexibility to try new things

* Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with different stakeholders

* Ability to read and understand patents, as well as write and defend patents

* Prepare manuscripts to be published and present at conferences

Requirements

* PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering, required

* 5+ years of experience in R&D for Integrity Management, required

* Working knowledge of Electrochemistry required

* Ability to develop skills for customer interactions, sales skills and value based selling

* Ability to coherently structure and present work in the form of presentations and reports

* Ability to develop new techniques and adapt existing techniques to ensure methods are up to date

* Must be able to work autonomously with limited supervision
