Hours:



  • This role requires 12 hours per week
  • This role is grant-funded through September 2028.



Education/Experience Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent International Diploma is required.
  • Must be a student of Herzing University in a nursing or dental Bachelor's program and in good academic standing.

    • Strong preference given to students who have completed at least two semesters at Herzing University.


  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong understanding of and connections to the populations served by the AANAPISI grant.



Responsibilities:

The role of the AANAPISI Peer Mentor and Tutor will be responsible for the below tasks and responsibilities.



  • Provide peer-to-peer tutoring for students in areas of program enrollment.
  • Provide 1:1 and group mentorship to new students, acting as a positive role model for students.
  • Serve as a resource for students, helping them identify appropriate University resources available to them.
  • Communicate with the project coordinator or Student Services of any students who need a higher level of care.
  • Assist in maintaining relations with the AANAPI community through community relations activities such as outreach, meeting planning, and attendance of AANAPISI related social gatherings at campus and in the community.
  • Contribute to building campus community through student communication and creating helpful student resources and serve as liaison with student organizations (e.g., the Student Nurses Association and the Student American Dental Hygienists Association.
  • Assist AANAPISI Program Coordinator in maintaining the culture room and study spaces.
  • Maintain mentor logs, paperwork, and records as required.

  • Must present a neat, professional appearance.
  • Ability to serve as a resource and role model to peers.
  • Must be extremely reliable in working the scheduled hours.
  • Must follow all campus policies for students and employees.
  • Able to interact well with students, faculty and staff.
  • Self-motivated with a genuine desire to help students succeed.
  • Sound judgment, organizational skills, and a strong student services orientation.
  • Able to communicate effectively through excellent oral and writing skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and make recommendations.
