Responsible for the engineering
functions of the advanced composites product group. The position oversees all
engineering aspects of the VersaCore Technology, a key technology in Ducommun's
growth strategy.

Job Summary
- Leads, supervises and directs the engineering department which includes R&D, prototype development, tool design, manufacturing planning, and document control. (i.e., from concept through design, development, certification and pre-production)
- Manages outside engineering contractors or consultants.
- Key member of the management team and business development process
- Supply technical input in bid / proposal process and lead the NPI process.
- Team leader for cause and corrective action team, a cross-functional team that includes members from Quality and Manufacturing functions.
- Participates in the annual strategic planning and budgeting process, with budgetary responsibility for the Engineering Department.
- Supports manufacturing as technical liaison in our Guaymas, MX facility.
- Mentors and coaches critical thinking and structured problem solving for the quality, engineering and production organizations within the company.
- Support vendor development / selection
- Ability to travel to customers, vendors and production facilities, domestic and international.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements
- Experience with mechanical/physical testing and or chemical testing and analysis
- Extensive knowledge of composite materials and adhesives for aerospace applications.
- Extensive knowledge of composite and metal bonding processes
- Experience and/or knowledge of CATIA and Unigraphics
- Knowledge of aerospace standards (AS, NAS, ASTM
- Knowledge of aerospace company specifications and practices, particularly Boeing
Required Experience and Education
- Bachelor's
degree, preferably in materials or aerospace engineering - Computer knowledge and skills, i.e., MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and Excel
- Ability to lead a group of people in a constructive, productive and fair manner.
- Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mylars.
- Strong analytical and communication skills

Base Compensation: USD 114,000.00 - 170,000.00 Paid Salaried
