POSITION SUMMARY:
To independently perform and report test analysis in accordance with Pathology policies and procedures, FDA, CAP, AABB, OSHA, CLIA, and JCAHO regulations to facilitate quality patient care.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree and certification at the Medical Technologist level (ASCP or AMT) or Bachelor's degree and categorical certification consistent with the work performed: C, or H, (ASCP).
EXPERIENCE:
Experience required - 5 years technical skills in Hematology or Chemistry or both.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Qualified applicant should have an MT level certification (ASCP or AMT) or categorical certification consistent with work performed (or equivalent). This position requires the ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, frequently changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. One must have the ability to function competently in a changing work environment, and to work cooperatively within the health system with multidisciplinary team members. The ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities. One would need to use critical thinking skills to effectively problem solve and deliver service. Review policies, procedures and results consistent with guidelines for CAP and other regulatory agencies and implement them as needed. Monitor QC on a daily basis and taking appropriate action when necessary. Evaluation of future laboratory equipment needs, coordinate training of new instrument acquisitions and future technical staff requirements in coordination with the manager. Coordinator will help strategize with the manager to implement the following improvement issues: workflow, inventory control, employee evaluations, physician, and patient and employee satisfaction.
