NURSE PRACTITIONER

The Nurse Practitioner is a board-certified practitioner performing independent, collaborative, and comprehensive work between neurosurgeons, nursing, and administrative staff in the complex management of patients with neurological disorders. The job will require obtaining comprehensive histories, physicals, and neurological examinations, placing orders, implementing work-up and treatment plans, including performing specialized procedures, utilizing knowledge to prevent patient care problems, and enhancing continuity of care. Priority is given to NP with at least two years of experience in neurosurgery, and prior exposure to acute care of neurology and neurosurgy patients.

Candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, complex academic medical environment where the NP works as a valued member of the multidisciplinary team.

Must have experience working with neurosurgery patients.

Must be self motivated, goal oriented, and able to work independently. Must have the ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively and effectively in partnership with patients, families, physicians, clinical staff, hospital departments, community, and outside organizations.

Must have excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities. Excellent critical thinking , analysis, and assessment skills for successful process improvement planning and monitoring. Proficient in EPIC.

1.Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a Master's Degree in Nursing

2. New York State License as a Registered Nurse and Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner

3. Possess current certification by the ANCC or AANP

4. Possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support( BLS)

5. Three years experience withat least 2 years of experience working in full capacity with neurosurgery patients preferably in Spine.
