Description

DESCRIPTION

Rigaku Innovative Technologies (RIT), a subsidiary of Rigaku Corporation, is currently looking for an experienced Optical Fabrication Engineer in Precision Optics. The Optical Fabrication Engineer will be responsible for optical fabrication of X-ray mirror components using optical CNC machinery. Lead/assist in the development of new processes aimed at the advancement of X-ray mirror technology. Perform various surface metrology characterizations on polished parts.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead/assist in developing new polishing technologies and processes
  • Lead/assist in applying statistical data analysis for optimization of polishing processes
  • Operate CNC optical polishing and grinding machines with focus on precision and throughput
  • Perform surface metrology characterization using profilometers and interferometers
  • Data reduction and analysis of surface geometry and characterization
  • Develop and run analytical programs for data processing
  • Maintenance and calibration of all optical and metrology equipment
  • Assisting senior technical staff in development of new techniques and processes for advancement of X-ray mirror technology


Qualifications

Requirements:

The position is available at different proficiency levels. The offer depends on qualification.



  • Education: PhD, or Masters with a minimum of 2 years, or BS with a minimum of 3 years in Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 2+ years' experience in optical CNC machining is required. Experienced in precision optics fabrication is a plus
  • Strong hands-on skills for engineering and handling fragile parts with attention to detail and quality
  • Strong computer skills with basic programming and modeling concepts as a plus
  • Strong analytical geometry skills
  • Basic knowledge and experience of 3D CAD modeling, 2D drawing, lathes, milling is a plus
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems of scientific and technological interest to RIT
  • Ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly
