Job Summary The role of the Ambulatory RN is a clinical nurse navigator providing navigation services to patients participating in the different cancer screening programs. Clinical care provided by the Ambulatory RN is primarily indirect patient contact (limited direct patient care, patient navigation specific), with hybrid remote flexibility. The Ambulatory RN will be responsible for providing messages that address motivation to comply with screening recommendations; addressing barriers to clinical care and diagnostic follow up; linking patients with the resources for screening and follow-up care available in their county (primary care providers, oncology, or surgical facilities); and arranging for payment of clinical services. The Ambulatory RN should be proficient in guiding individuals through screening and subsequent diagnostic evaluation in a clinically competent manner, using communication and behaviors that are culturally appropriate for rural and urban populations. The Ambulatory RN should also be highly skilled in case management and/or clinical care coordinator roles. At UT Southwestern, the possibilities to advance your career are limitless.
