Training Specialist - Psychiatry Department - Mood Disorders Division
Departmental Job Description
The Psychiatry Department is looking to hire a Training Specialist to assist with the Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) program. The Specialist will be expected to perform the following job duties:
Trains as YAM Program Facilitator and YAM classroom assistant
Prepare YAM booklets and all supplies (put student resource stickers in each booklet) prior to the beginning of each school session
Travels to ISDs throughout the UTSW and UNT HRI regions (Dallas, Collin, Tarrant, Denton and other North Texas counties) to facilitate 5 YAM sessions per cohort in middle and high schools
Works with ISD counselors and teachers to ensure student safety and program fidelity
Complete YAM debriefing with Lead Facilitator and helper at the end of each day
Meet with assistant(s) to prepare for individualization of session 5 for each cohort
Participate in all internal team member Consultation calls
Prepare and submit program documents for internal and external reports
Print, assemble, and disseminate school information (i.e., team schedule, bell schedule, emergency procedures, etc.) for facilitator/helper team members
Research and make student resource lists in partnership with school counselors
Schedule and oversee YAM booklet and all supply preparation
Organize background checks for team members for each district as required
Serve as on-site point of contact for school during YAM implementation
Schedule and conduct consultation calls for internal team members
Maintains inventory of all supplies / materials for training and dissemination to UTSW HRI team member
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Personnel Management or related field and three years of experience in development and use of training methods, techniques, and materials.
May consider additional years of related experience in lieu of degree.
Job Duties
Plans, organizes, administers, conducts, and coordinates in-service training and education programs.
Confers with management and line supervision to determine need and scope of training programs.
Develops curriculum and lesson plans or other appropriate methods of presentation.
Conducts training sessions, organizes lectures, and prepares training manuals and materials, visual aids such as slides and films, and other training implements.
Maintains records of training activities, and evaluates applicability and effectiveness of programs.
Recommends policies and procedures relating to training activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
