Experience and Education



Graduate of an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology program. Must be able to read, write and communicate in English. One year experience in a Cardiac Cath/Electrophysiology or Interventional Radiology department. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ACA) by first day of employment is required.

Job Duties




  1. Sets up for procedure adhering to sterile technique. Prepares patient by attaching hemodynamic monitoring equipment. Observes and evaluates patient symptoms and responses. Practices patient safety goals.
  2. Knows and demonstrates effective aseptic technique throughout the performance of procedures.
  3. Operates table and positions patient for optimal fluoroscopic visualization. Sets parameters for radiation dose and digital acquisition of images. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self by adhering to prescribed practices and safety standards.
  4. Utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perfrom procedure accurately and in a safe manner in accordance with age specific criteria. Assists the physician as needed during the procedure with insertion of catheters, guidewires and other procedural supplies.
  5. Records hemodynamic data, patient symptoms and responses. Recognizes and communicates any changes in EKG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation or any other parameters to the physician and team.
  6. Accurately scans supplies and completes charges after each procedure.
  7. Transports patients in a safe manner to/from the CVIR department.
  8. Maintains and reports par levels for all products. Restocks rooms and removes outdated products.
  9. Troubleshoots minor problems with equipment. Notifies supervisor/Biomed as appropriate. Follows archiving quality control measures to ensure the storing of images to the PACS.
  10. Assumes accountability for all actions in the workplace. Reports errors promptly and takes appropriate follow-up action to rectify the error.
  11. Effective patient/family advocate. Responds to patient's and/or patient's family's complaints in an appropriate and effective manner. Reports complaints to the Manager or their designee in a timely manner. Utilizes the chain of command appropriately to resolve patient, operational, or personal work related problems.
  12. Functions in the department as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborates in the cae and service delivery process of patient care through communication with team members and other service lines.
  13. Participates in performance improvement activities as directed. Attends at least 80% of scheduled staff meetings and attends 100% of mandatory educational sessions.
  14. Works cooperatively with all staff and supports staff new to the environment.
