Job Summary

UT Southwestern is in search of a skilled and experienced Building Envelope Coordinator for our Building Maintenance division. Works under general supervision to conduct thorough assessments of the entire building envelope, encompassing roofs, wall openings, penetrations, expansion joints, foundations, and other pertinent components.

Work Location: Dallas Campus; travel to other client sites as needed.

Shift Requirement: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.



Minimum Experience and Education Requirements

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architecture preferred.
  • Requires four (4) years of envelope, waterproofing roof repair or related experience.
  • Requires understanding of various roof systems, masonry restoration techniques, and standards related to water and moisture management.
  • Requires proficiency in basic or higher-level computer skills.

  • Work requires responsibility for development, implementation and maintenance of quality management/quality assurance program, which will assure quality delivery of services, employee safety, and public accountability and accreditation processes necessary.
  • Work requires the ability to multitask, prioritize and delegate effectively.
  • Work requires the ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.



Job Duties

  • Oversees and inspects, the work of specialty consultants contracted to assess the roof envelope and other building components.
  • Assists in the review and implementation of the repair and maintenance standard requirements and service level of contracted services.
  • Acts as a liaison between contractors and university staff.
  • Collects, maintains, and organizes all relevant data that documents function and status of quality assurance processes or programs.
  • Identifies and investigates potential water intrusion and other forms of building infiltration.
  • Formulates and presents repair strategies based on assessment findings.
  • Inspects work related to the execution of construction contracts for building envelope repairs.
  • Schedules work of specialty consultants contracted to assess the roof envelope.
  • Performs inspections and evaluations of roofs and other building components.
  • Identifies and documents deficiencies within building envelopes, ensuring an understanding of areas requiring attention.
  • Monitors industry best practices and advancements in building envelope maintenance and repair methodologies.
  • Assists in developing, organizing, and evaluating quality assurance objectives.
  • Coordinates emergency after-hour water intrusion response support.
  • Performs daily roofing and waterproofing inspections, essential for preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborates with other departments to coordinate and schedule repair and maintenance and envelope projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a general office or outside area (exterior building).
  • Working conditions may involve exposure to one or more disagreeable elements, such as dust, dirt, heat, moisture, and cold conditions.



Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents in lieu of stated minimum require prior approval of Vice President for Human Resources Administration or his/her designee.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code *51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
