POSITION SUMMARY: Reports to the Engineering Manager, assists Project Managers. Responsible for coordination and execution of technical aspects of capital expenditure projects - small to large - throughout the life cycle of the project. Starting with initial concept, continuing with the feasibility study, and concluding with commissioning and transfer to operations.

The Project Engineer has interest in multiple discipline engineering activities like mechanical, electrical, automation, civil, structural, and environmental.

The Project Engineer shall be able to assist the Project manager and coordinate the technical engineering aspects of a project for all business segments of the organization with the following contributions:

  • Collects site information. (Existing drawings, process flow, topography...)
  • Develops conceptual designs. (Layout, Flow sheet, Mass Flow, Equipment specification...)
  • Coordinates engineering activities for a project.
  • Uses and promote group best practice principles regarding Engineering, Safety, Health and Environment, and Quality.
  • Ensures all safety policies and standards are applied to be able to execute the projects with Zero Harm.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • The Project Engineer contributes to the delivery of CAPEX projects (greenfield, brownfield, optimization, etc.) for small to large size projects.
  • Collects existing site information (drawings, P&ID, utilities...)
  • Makes site survey, 3D scans and takes site measurement as required.
  • Prepares and develop conceptual designs.
  • Makes preliminary Flow Sheets.
  • Makes preliminary GA drawings (2D and 3D drawings).
  • Makes preliminary equipment and instrument lists.
  • Prepares all necessary documentations for the Project cost estimation.
  • Prepares all necessary documentations for the tendering process.
  • Contributes to technical evaluation and clarification during the bid and contract process.
  • Provides guidance to external engineering.
  • Checks and Reviews detailed engineering documents and drawings.
  • Participates in Safety, Maintenance, Operability and Construction reviews.
  • Transmit construction documents to construction team.
  • Manages and archives all technical documents related to the project.
  • Controls and inspects construction sites and fabrication shops as required.
  • Provides guidance and support to site team during construction.
  • Assists during commissioning and start-up.
  • Assists during trainings and hand over to operations.
  • Contributes to the after-action review (lessons learned, etc.) report.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SketchUp, Inventor or any other equivalent CAD software. (Essential for the position)
  • Knowledge of various process equipment and bulk material handling.
  • Basic knowledge in civil, structural, electrical and automation engineering.
  • Knowledge in construction.
  • Knowledge of process and mass flow calculations.
  • Capacity to forecast, analyze and mitigate technical risks.
  • Reporting - accurately and timely.
  • Able to communicate in a multi-cultural environment (written and verbal).
  • Able to communicate internally as well as with external third parties.
  • Able to work under pressure and in a matrix organization with teams located in several locations.
  • Open minded for change and innovation.
  • Team player committed to the Group values and ethics.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks / Projects assignments.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects.
  • Able to work outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Able to access all areas within a site which could include heights of 180 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Able to travel extensively and reside over a longer period on a specific work location related to the project work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant, terminal, and office locations as needed.
  • Tolerate working outside in weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working in an office, mining, and lime processing environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, civil or chemical engineering preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in lime, cement or mineral industry.
