Overview

The Cost Estimator works in a dynamic fast paced environment and is responsible for the preparation, organization and presentation of project estimates. The Cost Estimator works with an identified team of subject matter experts, including: Technical and Domain Experts, Pre Sales Engineers, Team Leaders, Account Managers and Program Managers. The Cost Estimator is responsible for building strong relationships across NV5 by maintaining line of sight to and engaging Acquisition, Business Development, Finance and all levels of Professional Services. The Cost Estimator is responsible for assisting in the development of and maintaining a program database, and reporting analytics and trend analysis surrounding estimation KPI's. The Cost Estimator will supervise the development and training of additional Cost Estimation

Coordinators, as needed, to support the growth of the CFT's programs.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Project Management: Support Team Leaders, Project Managers, Program Managers, and Production Managers * Initiation: Work with account managers to collect initial client requirements, identify assumptions, contribute to risk mitigation, assess project feasibility, engage stakeholders

* Planning: Estimate costs, support business development and proposal team

* Closing: Assist in project retrospectives, identify variances, include metrics in program database and incorporate lessons learned

Business Development: Support Account Managers, Pre Sales Engineers and Proposal Specialists

* Understand assigned practice area and stay current on target markets

* Provide cost analysis and estimation documentation on tight deadlines

* Support proposal specialist with project scope and budget

* Maintain program database to provide data driven decisions

* Maintain a strong working knowledge of NV5's data processing and workflows

* Educate sales team as to the drivers of project cost

Collaboration

* Engage and coordinate with acquisition and survey teams for project planning

* Consult with Domain Experts and Technical Specialists on innovation and process improvements

* Support business development in pricing and proposals

* Contribute to estimation best practices and process improvement

* Develop and maintain cost estimation tracking and automation tools

* Participate in process improvement and innovation initiatives at NV5

* Maintain best practices documentation for cost estimation

* Advanced understanding of industry cost estimation core processes, procedures and protocols

* Familiarity with project management processes and tools, especially initiation and planning

* Ability to analyze cost estimation data and correlate information to future estimates

* General geospatial industry knowledge around cost of production

* Familiarity with NV5 ideated products and deliverables

* Consistently produces precise and accurate work

* Demonstrates problem solving ability across software platforms

* Shows flexibility when being tasked

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience

* 3+ years of technical experience

* 3+ years of experience in a professional work environment

* Familiarity with databases and statistical reporting

* Confident knowledge of ESRI or vector-based software, and Google Earth * Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, Smartsheets, and Google Drive

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering program

* Masters or higher

* 4+ years' experience in a technical, professional work environment

* General understanding of flight and field operations
