As the Senior Manager, System Engineering you will lead a team of engineers and administrators focused on migrating multiple tenants to a unified Azure environment, migrating on-premises infrastructure to Azure, optimizing cloud architecture, and ensuring solid operation of the environment. Your job responsibilities would encompass a wide range of tasks across planning, execution, optimization, and ongoing management.

PLANNING AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

Assessment and Requirements Gathering:

  • Evaluate current on-premises infrastructure and tenant environments.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders regarding performance, scalability, security, and compliance.
  • Design and communicate a three-year vision for the transformation of the Mativ infrastructure landscape.

Migration Strategy:

  • Develop a comprehensive migration strategy for both tenants and on-premises infrastructure to Azure.
  • Create a roadmap with phased migration plans, considering dependencies, risks, and timelines.

AZURE INFRASTRUCTURE DESIGN

Architecture Design:

  • Design scalable, secure, and cost-effective Azure architectures.
  • Define Azure resource groups, subscriptions, networking configurations, and identity and access management (IAM) policies.

Integration and Compatibility:

  • Ensure seamless integration between migrated tenants and applications.
  • Plan for compatibility testing and validation of applications in the Azure environment.

MIGRATION EXECUTION

Deployment and Implementation:

  • Deploy Azure services and resources based on the designed architecture.
  • Execute data migration strategies, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining data integrity.

Application Migration:

  • Coordinate the migration of applications and workloads from on-premises to Azure.
  • Utilize Azure migration tools and services as appropriate.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Ensure operations are executing withing best practice standards around Level 2 and Level 3 support, backup and recovery, security compliance, and service levels.
  • Align and adapt staff to business needs and changes in direction.

OPTIMIZATION AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Performance Monitoring:

  • Set up monitoring tools to track Azure infrastructure performance and application health.
  • Optimize resource allocation and utilization to meet performance and cost targets.

Cost Optimization:

  • Implement cost management strategies, such as resource tagging, rightsizing, and leveraging Azure cost management tools.

SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

Security Implementation:

  • Design and implement Azure security best practices, including network security groups, encryption, and Azure Active Directory integration.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security policies.

DOCUMENTATION, TRAINING, AND SUPPORT

Documentation:

  • Create comprehensive documentation of Azure environments, configurations, and migration processes.

Training:

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT teams and stakeholders on managing and operating Azure environments.

Support:

  • Provide post-migration support and troubleshooting to resolve issues and optimize Azure environments.

COLLABORATION AND STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

Communication:

  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders on migration progress, issues, and milestones.

Coordination:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, and business units, to ensure alignment and successful migrations.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay updated with Azure services, best practices, and industry trends.
  • Incorporate new features and improvements into Azure environments to enhance performance and efficiency.

Project Management

Project Oversight:

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Mitigate risks and resolve issues throughout the migration lifecycle.

Performance Metrics

  • Success Metrics: Efficiency of migration processes, cost savings, performance improvements, and stakeholder satisfaction.

qualifications:

This role requires a blend of technical expertise in Azure services, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. Success hinges on meticulous planning, seamless execution of migrations, and ongoing optimization to maximize the benefits of Azure cloud infrastructure for multiple tenants and migrated workloads.

Requirements

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Azure services, cloud architecture, and cloud security best practices. Familiarity with tools like Azure DevOps, Terraform, and other IaC tools.
  • Leadership of a team ranging in size from 10-15 people and third party support organizations.
  • Experience: 7-10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering/leadership expereince with a focus on Azure transformations.
