Description

Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Construction Cost Estimator for our Muscatine, Iowa office. This position develops and checks cost estimates for a variety of architectural, civil, industrial, institutional, federal, and utility type projects. Overtime as needed. Some travel possible.

Essential duties include:



  • Prepares material take-offs and reviews take-offs of others from planning documents or engineering drawings.
  • Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
  • Prepares the submittal package including basis of estimate, quantity backup, cost data and estimate.
  • Accumulates, evaluates, and documents historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
  • Contact vendors and suppliers for current material costs.
  • Prepares and/or reviews final Engineer's estimate.
  • Working knowledge of general construction practices and processes.
  • Work with the estimating department to assure that projects are progressing ahead in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Attend off site and in office meetings as required to coordinate efforts with external clients and internal estimating staff.


Background requirements include:



  • Associate or bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Requires 0 - 5 years of relevant experience
  • Must possess the ability to read construction documentation
  • Previous construction experience is a plus
  • Must possess strong PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in scheduling and use of scheduling software is a plus.
  • Experience in MII Estimating software is a plus.
  • Experience with electronic take off programs is a plus.
