Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems (KUAS), a At KUAS, we prioritize innovation, GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: To perform machining tasks as directed by their supervisor utilizing the CNC Vertical Milling Center (main responsibility), Bridgeport Mill, Engine Lathe and CNC Lathe as well as other Machine Shop support equipment (i.e. grinder, belt sander, cold saw, etc.). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of CNC Machinists. Each level of CNC Machinist has additional duties and responsibilities listed. Updates set-up and tooling sheets as required, maintaining the VMC logbook for shift turnover, documenting travelers and Discrepant Materials Report (DMR). Basic programming (iG codes). Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as right-the-first-time attitude. Inspects work utilizing basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc). Sets up and oversees Machine Operators as required during post machining runs. Provides suggestions or advice to maximize the efficiency of Machine Shop. Maintains a clean work area and ensures strict adherence to the 5S Standards. Accurately adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications. Uses various machine shop support equipment including Saws, Belt Sanders, Grinders, Overhead Cranes and Drill Press. Follows FOD (foreign object prevention) practices. Complies with established safety directives. Complies with established QMS procedures. CNC Machinist I 1. Works under limited supervision. 2. Specific duties and responsibilities for this level include: Math Documentation Materials Knowledge Tooling/Molds Equipment Process Quality Safety CNC Machinist II 1. Works under minimal supervision. 2. Responsible for training less skilled CNC Machinists. 3. Specific duties and responsibilities for this level include an intermediate level of: Math Documentation Materials Knowledge Tooling/Molds Equipment Process Quality Safety CNC Machinist III 1. Works very independently. 2. Specific duties and responsibilities for this level include an advanced level of: Math Documentation Materials Knowledge Tooling/Molds Equipment Process Quality Safety Non-Essential Job Duties Other duties may be assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None. Compensation $25.00 - $40.00 Hourly Keyword: CNC, grinder, belt sander, cold saw, G codes, Calipers, 5S standards, QMS, Manufacturing, Metal Bonding, Machine Shop, Aircraft Machined Parts, Drill Press, Cranes, Required Experience: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Each successive level of CNC Machinist builds on the identified knowledge, skills and abilities listed for the previous level(s) CNC Machinists. ii Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards ii Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors ii Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary ii Ability to adhere to workplace rules CNC Machinist I ii Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures involving CNC machines. ii Knowledge of cutters and effective use of cutters for maximum efficiency. ii Familiarity with lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement techniques beneficial.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Standing, walking, bending, reaching and working from slightly elevated surface. Use hand tools. Occasionally lifts and carries heavy objects. Employee may generate, handle, manage, or work around hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
