I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
Job Description Summary: |
A Senior Research Assistant position is available in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and the Cancer Center at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The Chung lab applies Biophysics and Biomechanics disciplines to the important cancer biology problem of how cancer cells become metastatic. The lab employs an interdisciplinary approach to investigate the biophysical properties of cells and their surroundings, including structural, organizational, and biomechanical features. These properties are closely tied to cell functions, and biophysical regulation of molecular and cellular processes contributes to biochemical and cell biological outcomes such as signaling and motility.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated researcher that can work independently and interact well with others as part of a team.
Responsibilities include:
- Independently design and conduct experiments with oversight from the Principal Investigator, involving a range of techniques such as biochemical assays, cell culture, molecular biology, and biophysical and biomechanical analysis of live cells. Additional responsibilities can include super-resolution imaging, coding, and data analysis.
- Analyze data and interpret results from experiments.
- Prepare lab meeting presentations and draft manuscripts.
- Ordering and organizing supplies and research reagents.
- Training junior researchers in the lab.
- Maintaining lab equipment and overseeing compliance with Biosafety guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. |
