What is the opportunity? As a Principal Process Engineer in the RBC US Technology Strategy and Architecture Transformation group, this role will play a crucial role in assessing opportunities across the US Tech landscape within five Lines of Business (LOB) entities. Their expertise will drive strategic improvements and innovations, ensuring the alignment of technology processes with business objectives. What will you do? Technology Strategy Development:
- Define and drive the technology strategy for process engineering and optimization initiatives.
- Identify emerging technologies and trends to enhance process efficiency and effectiveness.
Process Automation and Digitization:
- Lead the standardization of process automation solutions leveraging advanced technologies such as robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML).
- Define and drive the digitization of manual processes to streamline operations and improve scalability.
Data-driven Decision Making:
- Utilize advanced analytics and data-driven insights to inform process improvements and decision-making.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of process changes.
Enterprise Architecture Alignment:
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams (within the RBC US chief architect's leadership) to ensure that process improvements are aligned with the overall technology architecture.
- Identify process optimization/simplification opportunities for technology standardization and consolidation to drive efficiency and reduce complexity.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the RBC US Technology organization.
- Encourage experimentation with new technologies and methodologies to drive operational excellence.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with business stakeholders, tech teams, and other functional areas to understand requirements and priorities.
- Facilitate collaboration and communication to ensure successful implementation of technology-driven process improvements.
What do you need to succeed? Must-have Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in process engineering, technology strategy, or a related discipline within the financial services industry.
- Proven experience as a Development Lead or similar role, with a strong track record of managing software development projects.
Technical Proficiency:
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, systems integration, and technology transformation processes.
- Proficiency in process modeling tools and methodologies, such as BPMN, Six Sigma, Lean, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with modern software development practices, including Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in cloud technologies, data analytics, and microservices architecture.
Analytical Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and process enhancements.
Strategic Thinking:
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and align technology initiatives with business goals.
- Experience in developing and implementing technology roadmaps and strategic plans.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Project Management:
- Strong project management skills with experience in leading large-scale process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.
Leadership and Influence:
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams and organizational levels.
- Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members.
Domain Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, particularly within wealth management, private banking, capital markets, and commercial banking.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the financial sector.
Adaptability:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000-$250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
