SECTOR OVERVIEW

The Renewables Practice is a cross-functional group focused on supporting renewable energy development and design from inception through final construction. The team engages with and leverages employees from across TRC-s three Sectors (Environmental, Power, and Infrastructure), as well as with partners and subcontractors. The Renewables Delivery Team (RDT) has responsibility for business development and origination, detailed design, project management of complex projects, client management, providing expert subject matter guidance, and tracking and reporting related to solar, wind, EV infrastructure and storage projects.


Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

TRC is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Civil Project Engineer for our growing integrated Renewable Engineering team. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth in site civil design and permitting. The successful candidate will have solid technical training and hands on solar civil design experience. They should be a front-line client-focused leader who works with stakeholders to understand project needs and manages teams to deliver services to meet those requirements. The works closely with other discipline team members to provide comprehensive design solutions that meet client specifications, networking with clients to identify and define projects, developing and negotiating proposals, and delivering work according to scope, schedule, and budget. For this role we are looking for individuals that have significant experience developing, or supporting the development of, solar and/or storage projects in the U.S.

This position is based in California but may operate from anywhere within the United States.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - TASKS

  • Design stormwater management systems for renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare construction and industrial stormwater SWPPPs.
  • Perform earthwork analysis and prepare grading plans.
  • Provide civil-site design for a variety of projects supporting renewable and storage developers to comply with various state and federal regulations.
  • Assist clients in addressing their development challenges and goals by working with project teams to perform analyses.
  • Mentor and delegate tasks to junior level staff.
  • Have strong technical writing, data management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Apply quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Travel (typically 15-20%) throughout the US.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 5+ years engineering experience providing structural design of energy related projects, specifically renewable energy (wind, solar, etc.) preferred.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of plans, designs, and specifications.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal level permitting for renewable and storage development, including Special Use Permits, driveway permits, grading permits and building permits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Valid, unencumbered US Drivers license.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with company policy.

ADDITIONAL PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with energy related projects, specifically renewable energy (wind, solar, etc.).
  • Experience with HydroCAD or other stormwater modeling/hydrology software.
  • Experience independently analyzing and interpreting data regarding site uses and topography to develop stormwater management plans and best management practices.
  • Experience developing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Experience with design and development of erosion and sedimentation control plans.
  • Professional Engineer License.

Compensation: Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
