Overview

TRC is seeking a qualified Sr Geotechnical Engineer/Project Manager with the potential for Geotechnical Team Leadership. Potential TRC office locations include Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and growing our existing geotechnical team through external Client relationships as well as for extensive opportunities within various sectors and practices within TRC.

The successful candidate(s) will be a member of TRC's expanding Geotechnical Engineering Group, currently having team members in Mount Laurel, NJ, Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH and Scott Depot, WV, Blacksburg, VA and Manassas, VA offices. In addition to the geotechnical engineering team, TRC also has a full-service drilling division, geophysical testing capabilities, AASHTO and USACE certified soil mechanics and rock testing laboratories, a PDA testing and vibration monitoring component, and a commercial construction inspection division, all of whom work together to provide high-quality and cost-effective geotechnical design solutions for a wide range of project applications. Typical projects include highways, bridges, industrial processing facilities, municipal capital improvements, pipelines, dams and levees, power generation and transmission projects, low to high-rise residential developments and office complexes, multi-story parking facilities, solar and wind renewable energy. Currently, our geotechnical service area is primarily located within northeastern, southeastern, and lower midwestern states, with rapidly growing needs for support in other regions of the US.


Responsibilities

  • With support from existing Team Leadership, focus on business development and technical assistance for our existing geotechnical engineering service line, with emphasis on quality, safety and profitable growth.
  • Work closely with clients to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Prepare and peer review proposals and cost estimates to clients to ensure proper scoping of services, assignment of manpower and pricing to meet or exceed project profitability goals.
  • Provide design and construction phase engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include performing, leading and/or peer reviewing field exploration programs and data interpretation, geotechnical engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, development of plans and specifications, and the writing, preparation, and peer review of related reports for the services provided.
  • Track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and schedules and implement changes as needed to meet project and company goals.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary and multi-geographic project teams.
  • Independently plan, coordinate, execute and manage both routine and technically complex projects within budget and schedule.
  • Supervise, assist, mentor, and educate our current staff professionals with project planning and execution.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
  • Maintain visibility in the marketplace through participation at industry events, as an active member on committee and/or professional organizations.

Qualifications

  • BS required, MSCE with an emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Degrees should be from an ABET-accredited college or university program.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, which should include significant project management experience, including proposal preparation and budgeting, and proven or potential business development skills.
  • Experience with common geotechnical software programs such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, Settle3 and gINT is strongly preferred.
  • FEM analysis experience is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Transportation experience a plus.
  • Alternate delivery project execution experience a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Strong client and business development skills.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing and communication skills.
  • Strong, organizational, problem-solving skills, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as a team player to meet client needs.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, which includes the ability to travel out of town overnight, and occasionally outside normal business hours.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
