Overview

TRC is seeking a highly motivated Staff Environmental Scientist to join our EH&S, Engineering, Construction, and Remediation (ECR) team operating out of Greenville, SC. This position will be part of a skilled team that works closely with Project Managers and other technical leads performing ecological risk assessment, due diligence, environmental compliance, and other environmental activities, including field surveys and assessments. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable individual with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high performing team.


Responsibilities

  • Support human health and ecological risk assessment teams with data evaluation, statistical analysis and food web modeling
  • Research toxicological data and information to support human health and ecological risk assessments.
  • Perform dietary exposure modeling in support of risk assessments.
  • Conduct scientific literature reviews and summarize key data and components for use in scientific data evaluation.
  • Conduct biological field surveys including wetland/waterbody delineations (in accordance with USACE requirements), habitat assessments, wildlife and plant species-specific surveys, and breeding bird and raptor surveys.
  • Prepare wetland reports and obtain jurisdictional determinations.
  • Provide support in preparation of permit applications for USACE Section 10/404 and state permit applications.
  • Prepare protected species reports.
  • Prepare additional technical reports and develop agency correspondence.
  • Provide support for mitigation activities including mitigation banking options for client projects or permittee-responsible options requiring the development of Wetlands Mitigation Plans, mitigation site design, and conducting monitoring/reporting to Agencies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with agencies for coordination and consultation.
  • Provide technical support in responding to requests for proposals.
  • Abide by Company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental toxicology, natural resources, biology, ecology, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience in regulatory toxicology, ecological and/or human health risk assessment
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of technical and/or field experience completing wetland delineations, habitat assessments, biological reports, delineation reports and Section 401/404 permit applications
  • Strong plant identification skills
  • Strong environmental writing and communication skills
  • Strong ability to organize and evaluate scientific data in multiple software platforms
  • Strong ability to prioritize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory agencies in the Southeast region.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical communication skills are mandatory, along with the ability to maintain a positive attitude working under aggressive schedules and challenging work conditions such as heavily vegetated, rough terrain and hot and humid weather conditions.
  • The candidate must have a strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. The ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence, and other written materials is also required.
  • Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.

Additional Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to spend approximately 30 -50% in the field.
  • Demonstrated competency in statistics and quantitative data analysis.
  • Completion of USACE Wetland Delineation/Regional Supplement Training, PWS preferred
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and/or Fulcrum programs.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
