Accountable for ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and the reliability of manufacturing process and workflow. Determines best practice methods and sequences of manufacturing operations. Ensures products and processes meet customer quality requirements by providing input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification.

  • Evaluates and develops innovative solutions to complex engineering and manufacturing production problems through identification and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes including conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers. Prepares written and graphical work instructions to communicate manufacturing requirements and the required tooling to production personnel.
  • Evaluates capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Design and prepare concept drawings and implement new equipment, prototypes or modifications to existing equipment. Manage the overall implementations of capital equipment projects.
  • Investigates and prepares manufacturing methods for new products and prototypes in a timely manner. Prepares and carries out tool redesign and alterations, change in material specification, dimensions, methods, routing, etc. Standardize manufacturing methods.
  • Evaluates, recommends and implements changes to current manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, and material cost, reviewing production schedules, and estimating future requirements. Implement new methods for higher productivity.
  • Analyses and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Assure process control and reliability for broad areas of manufacturing that may include supplier base as appropriate. Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing "design for manufacture and assembly" plans.
  • Refines and enhances products and process by applying continuous improvements and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical or high-impact areas of production. May lead special projects for a variety of products and processes. Frequent formal and informal customer interface to present program status, including analysis of product failure, probable cause, and corrective action plans.
  • Assure product and process quality by design testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements. Determines root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering or Technology field and 7-10 years of related experience required.
  • Knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Previous capital planning experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization and with suppliers.
