Position Summary
The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term psychologist. This position is a 1.00 clinical FTE located at the main adult psychiatry clinic in Chapel Hill, NC. The position will involve both virtual and in person patient care. The faculty in this position will be involved with the Clinical Director of Psychotherapeutic Services to develop a full case of adult psychotherapy patients based on both faculty interest and the clinical needs of the outpatient services of the Department of Psychiatry. The successful candidate for this position will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians who provide diagnostic, stabilization, and treatment services for both the General Adult Psychiatry Clinic as well as for the Taking Care of Our Own Program, a program that provides mental health and support services to our direct healthcare worker population, including but not exclusive to trainees going through medical residencies and fellowships. We are looking for a psychologist specifically experienced in working with other healthcare professionals as this position will have a 50/50 split between the general outpatient psychiatric clinic and the Taking Care of Our Own Program.

The primary responsibilities include providing outpatient assessment and therapy for adult patients. The successful candidate will have strong training and experience with Behavioral Activation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as more specific trauma focused therapeutic interventions. Teaching activities will include training psychology interns, psychiatry medical residents, and clinical fellows.
This role may involve research. Opportunities for conducting research may be available as may additional teaching formats such as didactics.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in clinical or counseling psychology with three years minimum experience. Successful completion of an APA approved internship.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Documentation of training and experience in the implementation of EBTs such as ACT, CPT, and/or DBT.
