Position Summary |
The Department of Surgery at The University of North Carolina is seeking applications for a full-time academic plastic surgeon to join our Division of Plastic Surgery. The Division of Plastic Surgery is among 9 clinical Divisions in the Department of Surgery. The Division currently includes 5 faculty members that provide a broad array of clinical services in order to provide the highest quality care for plastic surgery patients including oncologic reconstruction, trauma (including facial and hand trauma), microvascular reconstruction, burn reconstruction, hand surgery, aesthetic and craniofacial procedures.
This position is being recruited as an open-rank, open-track appointment at an
FTE between 0.5
FTE and 1.0
FTE. The appointment may also be offered as a fixed term track or tenure/tenure track appointment. The faculty member will be expected to perform both clinical and research duties, along with the academic responsibilities of an educational institution.
The successful candidate will provide full-time surgical management of cleft lip/palate and complex craniofacial anomalies, adolescent breast, pediatric and adult facial trauma, and general pediatric plastic surgery with a focus on providing high quality, interdisciplinary, and family-centered team care.
UNC has one of the oldest multidisciplinary Craniofacial teams in the country and a busy multidisciplinary Vascular Anomalies team.
Faculty members within the Division of Plastic Surgery must possess a desire to commit to all three missions of the department and school of medicine, including the clinical, education, and research missions. Regarding the education mission, faculty members are expected to regularly participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Regarding the research mission, a commitment to any one of a broad array of research interests is desirable, including but not limited to clinical, outcomes, health services, basic science, translational, ethics, education, or global surgery research. Regarding the clinical mission, faculty members must be committed to delivering high quality clinical care that is of value to the patients of
UNC. Selected candidate must be team-oriented and have the ability to interact well with colleagues inside and out of the Division. Outreach to our many rural referring hospitals is highly encouraged. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Only candidates who have finished or will be completing an
ACGME-accredited residency in plastic surgery may apply, and these candidates must be a board certified/board eligible plastic surgeon with fellowship training in Craniofacial/Pediatric Plastic Surgery. |
