Position Summary |
The University of North Carolina School of Medicine is seeking a clinical faculty member to practice in our multi-specialty academic practice in Wilmington, NC. This team is part of an innovative partnership between
UNC Health,
UNC School of Medicine and Novant Health to provide specialty care to children from communities throughout southeastern and coastal NC. The Novant Health - New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH-
NHRMC) facility is a full spectrum community-based, multispecialty practice and a children's hospital that includes a 45 bed Level
III
NICU, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and inpatient unit.

CARE, aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education to deliver world-class family-centered care. The
UNC Division of Pediatric Neurology in Chapel Hill is a rapidly growing division with programs and research in epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, sleep disorders, neonatal neurology and neuro-oncology. Through the partnership between Novant Health and
UNC Children's, NH-
NHRMC will become the tertiary care referral hospital for children in Coastal and Southeastern NC. Additionally, there will be ongoing expansion of educational opportunities with medical students, other health profession students, and residents. Though not the primary focus of the center, research opportunities are also available.
This is a full-time, open rank clinical faculty position, on the fixed term track with the option of part-time focusing on reading
EEG studies, supervising APPs in outpatient clinic and performing outpatient sleep clinics. The candidate must be board certified / eligible in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology and additional training in either sleep medicine or epilepsy is required. Expertise interpreting EEGs is required. Expertise in management of high prevalence neurologic conditions in childhood is required but also willingness and interest in managing rare and complex conditions with the support of the
UNC Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill is expected. The faculty member will also be expected to develop and perform clinical activities in surrounding outreach locations in Southeastern NC.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the current pediatric neurologist and advanced practice provider in this growing practice. Additionally, the position is based in a terrific community setting with teaching and educational opportunities, while also being connected to a larger academic division in Chapel Hill. Salary will be based on experience and aligned to community-based specialist rates. Incentive compensation will support highly productive providers and meeting other targets aligned with broad system goals.
Wilmington, NC is a charming, coastal city of ~125,000 people located in the southeastern corner of North Carolina between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a popular destination because of its moderate, four-season climate, historic preservation district, annual cultural events, and numerous championship golf courses. The historic downtown offers a 1.75-mile River walk and the nearby Wrightsville, Carolina and Kure Beaches are all within half-hour drives from downtown Wilmington. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
