Position Summary |
The Division of Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at the
UNC School of Medicine is seeking to recruit a BC/BE Interventional Pulmonologist (IP) who will be hired at the faculty rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. Duties include, but are not limited to, expansion/development of an incidental lung nodule program and/or medical thoracoscopy program. The position will include inpatient/outpatient clinical duties and teaching responsibilities in interventional pulmonary medicine. The position will require development of a research arm of one of the programs described above. Close clinical and research collaboration with thoracic surgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and translational researchers in the field of lung cancer, infectious and inflammatory diseases is expected. The selected candidate must work effectively in a close teamwork setting and be flexible, solutions-oriented, and intellectually curious. He/she must maintain a commitment to continue to learn and train others in the field of pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine in terms of clinical advancements, research, and education. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree and be BC/BE in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care Medicine, and Interventional Pulmonology. Candidates will have completed a minimum of one year of interventional pulmonary fellowship training. Candidates should have experience performing advanced diagnostic and rigid bronchoscopy, navigational bronchoscopy, bedside tracheostomy, thoracic ultrasound, thoracentesis, chest tube placement, tunneled pleural catheter placement, medical thoracoscopy and management of complex pleural processes.In addition, candidates should have training and experience in clinical or translational research including a record of publication. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience in
PEG tube placement is preferred as well. |
