Position Summary
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) (Primary Appointment) and the Department of Neurology (Secondary Appointment) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are seeking a Neuromuscular Fellowship-trained BC/BE physiatrist to join our expanding academic departments. The successful candidate will provide excellent patient-centered clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient setting including but not limited to electrodiagnostic studies, neuromuscular ultrasound, and therapeutic injections. Academic time to participate in educational, research, and administrative activities associated with their academic appointment and related area of expertise will be included. Some PM&R on call responsibility and participation in quality improvement projects is required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD or DO who is board eligible/board certified in PM&R. The successful candidate will have completed a Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship, and will either hold or be willing to obtain NC Medical License prior to the day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and have the desire to be involved in medical education, research, and enhancing quality of patient care. The preferred candidate will also have expertise in diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders including motor neuron disease, peripheral neuropathy, myasthenia gravis, and myopathies; and in co-management of those conditions with Neurology teams. Preference will be given to those having certification by American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in Electrodiagnosis and/or by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, in Neuromuscular Medicine.
