Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the Gillings School of Global Public Health's finance office is to oversee budget planning, management and reporting at the School level and to lead financial policy development and implementation on behalf of the School. We serve as an adviser to School personnel on compliance matters and as a liaison between the School and auditors (internal and external). We also serve as the liaison between the School and various offices around campus (Provost's Office, Budget Office, Office of University Counsel, Internal Audit, as well as other UNC-Chapel Hill offices) on finance and compliance-related issues. The finance office directly manages financials for the central School units (CAUs) and the Public Health Foundation.
Position Summary
The Sr. Business Services Coordinator is responsible for optimizing daily business activities and performance across assigned units. This position serves as a floating resource for the school and consults with leadership, department chairs, program directors, and others as needed to plan, organize, and coordinate core business functions for finance and administrative needs. This position may support the school event strategist for strategic planning and operational execution of identified events. Other support includes financial administration, event planning, and other general administration needs for assigned units. This position will develop, implement, and revise standard operating procedures in partnership with central administrative units and departments for continuous process improvement.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently within a team-based structure to accomplish goals and objectives according to project timelines. Ability to incorporate feedback into work processes. Experience with process improvement and problem-solving. Proficient with remote business process tools and comfortable with technology.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience with event planning and database management. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and other Microsoft programs.
