Nursing Managers are responsible for:

Supervises staff engaged in delivering nursing services, such as conducting comprehensive assessments, taking vitals, interviewing prospective clients, and completing client admission forms and medical history. Responsible for coordinating nursing processes and auditing medical records for accuracy. Responsible for knowing intake and medical policies and procedures, and assures adherence to the same. Acts as liaison with physicians, psychiatrists and other medical professionals to assure appropriate care.




  • Supervising staff engaged in delivering nursing services
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments, charting vitals, completing admission forms, and documenting medical history
  • Auditing medical records for accuracy of diagnosis and care
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, established policies and procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Evaluating complex cases and working with clinical treatment team to devise appropriate treatment responses
  • Acting as liaison with physicians, psychiatrists, and other medical professionals to assure appropriate care
  • Other duties as assigned



Job Requirements:



  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of hire required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in and intake/managed care at a psychiatric treatment facility, with at least 3 years managerial experience.
  • Current professional licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of Illinois.
  • Advanced communication skills necessary to oversee and train staff on various evaluation techniques, and motivate others; to interpret, develop and write policies and procedures; to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations; and maintain effective contacts with outside agencies and referral sources or services.



Physical Requirements:



  • Normal or corrected vision, and some color vision, necessary to read thermometers, blood pressure gauges, dipstick analysis results, and so forth; and to see and evaluate presented symptoms and injuries (critical).
  • Communication abilities necessary to gather and exchange information with clients and staff in person or by telephone, provide care instructions, and schedule appointments (critical).
  • Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy, and reading reports, on a regular basis (critical).
  • Ability to respond to telephone, pages and intercoms (critical).
  • Manual dexterity necessary to manipulate instruments and syringes, apply bandages or sterile wipes, and accept and pass instruments and specimens; and touch sensitivity necessary to detect pulse, palpate body areas, and perform treatments with minimal client discomfort (critical).
  • Depending on Center assigned, ability to drive vehicle to various locations (essential).
  • Ability to stoop and bend, ability to reach and grab with arms and hands, and ability to walk and move about for up to two hours at a time (desirable).
